1/2 cup of ice cream

Have you ever eaten just one 1/2 cup of ice cream?

It's almost impossible to do. As I am scooping out the hard, creamy, delicious frozen milk, I justify why I actually need more than just one 1/2 cup of ice cream. It's funny the kind of excuses you can make for yourself in order to do what you want. It's called self-will and I just don't have much.

Especially when it comes to ice cream.

Alas, I did eat around 1/2 a cup of ice cream tonight. I didn't count the taster you get when you first open the container to make sure it is not freezer-burnt, though. And then there is the follow-up taster just to make sure. And of course you have to compensate for the air between the little shreds my spoon is producing, so another little bite won't do any harm. And putting the lid back on the bucket is nearly impossible when the first layer hasn't been extracted. Scoop, scoop. I made sure to pack all the little pieces I managed down into the measuring cup I am using as a bowl. Then I don't feel so bad since it is only half full. So just one final good-bye bite and I can put it away. For now.

At least until the first 1/2 cup of ice cream is gone.
