ALWAYS and NEVER

There is a good reason to go to a movie on a Thursday night. For one, there aren't a lot of people to have to wait in line behind. Two: You can avoid having to nudge someone in order to reach for a straw to stick in a ridiculously overpriced soda. (Seriously, since when did syrup and carbon water cost $6?) But mostly, going to a movie on a Thursday night is best because you don't have to deal with people sitting right next to you or directly in front of or behind you. Unless you are me.
It never fails. After settling into my seat, getting ready to enjoy a movie that cost me $10 I don't have, someone and someone else decides- ALWAYS- to sit smack dab in front of me. I was taught once in a class about taking tests that usually the correct answer never- excuse me- hardly ever-includes phrases like ALWAYS, and NEVER, but here I use it with great confidence. ALWAYS someone ends up sitting in front of me, blocking just one corner of the screen so I get to watch the majority of the movie with a silouette of someone's pubey hair in the way. Tonight, however, in a movie theater for 200, 15 people enjoyed the show and the late couple, true to form, took a seat right behind me. Are you KIDDING? Smack, crunch- I feel like their popcorn is bursting from my ears! Are they leaning into the back of my neck in order to eat? In a room that is less than 10% full, don't you think someone could find a seat that is NOT directly behind me? If you are attending a movie on a Thursday night, wouldn't you most likely have the same reasoning for doing so as I? Basically to avoid everyone else?
At least the movie was good-- from what I could tell.
