For a couple of reasons:
1) My flight E-tickets were waiting for me this morning in my mailbox! YAY! I am finally going home! For real.
2) It's snowing outside. Yesterday it snowed very little, but it was beautiful, big flakes slowly falling and instantly melting. This morning I was delighted to find a dusting of the white stuff on my car, and it has continued to fall since.
I have a very good feeling that this winter is going to be extraordinary. I can feel it in my bones, in my gut. I think we are going to get a LOT of snow, and I resolve to play in it as much as I can. I don't think it is going to be extremely, bitterly cold this winter- which will add to the grand possibility of MORE SNOW! And I am learning how to ski, damn it. Time to buck up and truely embrace our arctic climate. HELLO WINTER- I MISSED YOU!
