You've seen it already

A girl in a movie sneers at some undeserving guy she's been wasting her time on, and ends up throwing something as his chest while she puffs off in a fit full of part satisfaction and part relief. Then the camera zooms into the guy, who unexpectantly (though he really should have expected it) watches her leave without trying to do anything about it because he's frankly too lazy and confused about what exactly is the problem. While ultimately another person, more bright, more fulfilling, and more right for each of them awaits somewhere off in the distance, probably thinking about their very meeting at this very moment.

Then the movie goes on about the guy, and he ends up being strange and quirky, but irresestiably likeable to the viewer. And ultimately, there is a scene in the movie when he reunites with this seemingly forgettable lover and realizes that, in fact, his life is better without her. And the viewer has pity on her because she wasn't strong enough to read between the lines or secure enough to stick through it with him.

Fuck that.
